ART ALLIANCE AUSTIN ANNOUCES PARTICIPATING ARTISTS FOR FIRST INAUGURAL ARTBASH NOV. 7

    0
By christine on October 9, 2015 Arts, Austin, LATEST

Artists will include Alyssa Taylor Wendt, Urara Tsuchiya, Terri Thomas, Sarah Elizabeth Stevens, Bob Schneider, Elizabeth McDonald, Rebecca Marino, Christina Coleman, Brittani Broussard and Hannah Baker of Backstop Art

(AUSTIN, TEXAS – October 2015, source: Juice Consulting) – Art Alliance Austin is thrilled to bring one of the most exciting art events of the year to Austin: ARTBASH 2015. The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 7 at The Belmont located at 305 W 6th St., Austin, Texas 78701 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are $85 per person, which includes four drink tickets. For $250, guests can also attend an exclusive dinner from 6 to 9 p.m., which will include a curated dinner and drinks, valet parking, plus a general admission ticket for the remainder of the event. Dinner guests will also enjoy an exclusive preview of the exhibition, a private solo performance by musician Dana Falconberry and a more intimate opportunity to meet select artists, partners and curators. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at www.artallianceaustin.org.

Beloved local art industry stars Andrea Hyland and Seth Orion Schwaiger are curating ARTBASH. Participating artists include Alyssa Taylor Wendt, Urara Tsuchiya, Terri Thomas, Sarah Elizabeth Stevens, Bob Schneider, Elizabeth McDonald, Rebecca Marino, Christina Coleman, Brittani Broussard and Hannah Baker of Backstop Art. ARTBASH is presented by Austin Audi Dealers and supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department. Other sponsors include Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Brown Distributing Company, Ketra, Preacher and SXSW.

“ARTBASH is a single night art party meets art exhibition meets art event,” said Asa Hursh, Executive Director of the Art Alliance Austin. “We’re working with some of Austin’s most talented minds, curators and artists to bring a brand new event to Austin this November. We’re premiering new artists and some of Austin’s most established names. We’re excited to present Austin artists like Terri Thomas and Bob Schneider alongside emerging Texas artists like Brittani Broussard. Additionally, international artist Urara Tsuchiya will be shipping costumes and instructions for a performance, and we’ll be presenting new work by some of Austin’s most talked about artists Elizabeth McDonald, Sarah Elizabeth Stevens and Christina Coleman.”

Modeled after NYC’s CREATIVETIME Fall Ball series, the event will bring together Austin’s diverse art community and patrons, bringing art to life through interactions and experiences unlike anything Austin has seen before. Each room of the venue will be transformed by site-specific installations, performance, music, food and audience engagements. The Belmont will be transformed with the help of Austin lighting company KETRA whose dynamic system has been used on art masterpieces as well as everyday solutions for homes. Additionally, we’ll have ethereal live music performed by Henna Chou. The evening will be capped with a crazy fun dance party led by a team of SXSW DJs. The event’s Host Committee is chaired by Valerie Cason.

To curate this exciting event, Art Alliance Austin is working with Andrea Hyland and Seth Orion Schwaiger, two highly revered artists and curators based within Austin. Each has extensive experience curating exhibitions, events and collections from New York to Los Angeles to Glasgow. “This celebration will give you an opportunity to explore and experience contemporary art,” said Andrea Hyland, Co-Curator of ARTBASH. “We decided to use dreams as the primary point of departure for deciding on which art and artists to include. The goal is to develop an event that pushes boundaries, has surrealist tones and evokes personal and emotive experiences. We’re creating an immersive series of events with ARTBASH that showcase a blend of established and emerging artists, representing a wide variety of creative disciplines within the visual arts.”

ART ALLIANCE AUSTIN PRESENTS ITS NEXT ART BREAK:
Art Alliance Austin is proud to announce its next Art Break on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m at the Camiba Art at Flatbed Press gallery. This will be an exclusive preview of Austin based artist Ender Martos’ upcoming exhibition: Ender Martos: Luz y Movimiento. Attendees will witness Martos create and install a site specific installation to accompany his wall dependent and sculptural works in the exhibition. Guests will enjoy drinks while watching the completion of the installation, accompanied by a talk presented by Martos focused on site specific installations, his ideas behind them and how they can transition to private, corporate and public installations. This event allows unprecedented access to both artist and exhibition. Austin Art Breaks are a regular member-only event where Art Alliance Austin members can enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at galleries, private collections, artist studios and an introduction to those that shape the Austin art scene, while enjoying a drink and mingling with members of the Austin art community. Space is limited. Members can RSVP to Holly McDaniel at rsvp@artallianceaustin.org. To become a member of the Art Alliance Austin and attend, please see www.artallianceaustin.org.

ART ALLIANCE AUSTIN ANNOUNCES NEW VENUE AND DATES FOR ART CITY 2016: Dates for Art City 2016 have been announced! The festival will take place Friday, April 29, Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2016. After the past seven years of calling Cesar Chavez home, the festival has relocated to the beautiful and scenic Palmer Events Center along the shores of Lady Bird Lake downtown, located at 900 Barton Springs Rd., Austin, Texas 78704. Admission will be available at the door and online (beginning in January 2016) and tickets are $10 for adults.

Children 12 and under are free, and VIP Collector’s Lounge badges are $75. “As the event enters its 66th year, the event actually returns to its roots, at least its original location where it began in 1950 at the old City Coliseum,” said Asa Hursh. “This year will feature a better site, better parking, more shade, indoor and outdoor exhibitions, indoor restrooms and other improvements while still providing what our patrons expect – the best and biggest art marketplace in Central Texas complete with music, food and kids activities. This year we’ll have more exhibiting artists than in years past because we’ll have an indoor art fair style component to the festival. The new venue is providing us with new opportunities to showcase more talent.”
