HAAM ANNOUNCES EIGHTH ANNUAL CORPORATE BATTLE OF THE BANDS

 

Austin’s Corporate Musicians Take the Stage to Raise Money for Austin Musicians on May 8 at ACL Live

 AUSTIN, TX (April 7, 2014) ­ Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) announced today the return of the Corporate Battle of the Bands on Friday, May 8. The eighth annual battle, sponsored by H-E-B and Cirrus Logic, will feature corporate sponsors and their competing bands made up of Austin’s most unlikely musicians including doctors, marketing analysts, CEOs, and software engineers. This year will feature eight bands made up of full-time employees who play music on the side, and each band will try to steal the spotlight in front of cheering friends, family, coworkers, and live music fans.

 

The bands will play from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with doors opening at 7:00 p.m., at ACL Live located at 310 Willie Nelson Boulevard.

A panel of celebrity judges that includes Austin-based musician Glen Fukunaga and KLBJ personality B-Doe, as well as Austin’s own Olga Campos Benz, will name Best Cover Band, Best Original Band, and Grand Prize Winner after the concert of folk rock, pop rock, ’60s rock ‘n’ roll, alternative rock music, and more. The grand prize is a day of recording time at Ray Benson’s Bismeaux Recording Studios, and a pair of passes to ACL Fest. The live audience will choose the Fan Favorite by filling the tip jar of their favorite band of the night, and the band with the most donations will win the title. All donations benefit HAAM.

 

A silent auction will also take place during the performances to raise funds for HAAM. The available auction items include the following:

  • Private party at the Gibson Showroom featuring a notable Austin musician
  • A two-person Delbert McClinton cruise package
  • A one-of-a-kind guitar signed by music legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard

 

Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door and online at ACL Live starting Monday, April 13. All profits from Corporate Battle of the Bands goes to HAAM and its mission to provide local musicians access to affordable medical, dental, mental, hearing and vision healthcare services with a focus on wellness and prevention.
