Dangerous was released on November 26, 1991. After its first week of release, it debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200, staying there for four weeks. Sales of the album were shipped for seven million under two months, making this the fastest-selling album ever for Jackson in the U.S., breaking the sales record he had held for Bad, which had shipped seven million in four months. The album was certified seven-times platinum for sales of seven million copies alone in the United States, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Globally, Dangerous dominated worldwide charts debuting at number-one in the United Kingdom while also reaching number-one in seven other territories including Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. It was also a huge success in Asian countries. Sales of the album eventually reached over 35 million copies worldwide.
Jean-Marie Horvat got his start in the early 90’s as a mixer/engineer/remixer for Teddy Riley. During his 5 year tenure, he engineered and mixed a long list of stellar projects which included songs for Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous”, Wreckx-N-Effect’s “Hard or Smooth” and the hit debut Bobby Brown and Blackstreet albums.
Jean-Marie’s ability to work in such diverse styles as Hip Hop, R&B, Rock and Gospel has led him to be one of the preeminent mixers in the business. He has worked with a host of top producers including Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Stargate, Polow Da Don, The Neptunes,R. Kelly, Scott Storch, Just Blaze, Bryan-Michael Cox, Babyface, Rodney Jerkins andwill.i.am. He has been honored with two Grammy Award nominations for his work onDestiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” and Kirk Franklin’s “Revolution”, and a Latin Grammy Award nomination for the smash Beyonce f/Shakira “Beautiful Liar.”
