In this interview,  two music icons, Chris HIllman (The Byrds) and Johny Echols (Co-Founder of psychedlic rock band Love) and Alison Ellwood, director of the Laurel Canyon two-part series that debuted on Epix March 31st talk about the epic music scene incubated by the eponymous Laurel Canyon area of California in the “60s.

Arguably the pioneer of the genre known as “Country Rock,” Chris Hillman has carved a permanent niche in the history of contemporary American music through his work with such notable bands as The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers and the Desert Rose Band.

Laurel Canyon is a two-part documentary series, directed by Alison Ellwood, that features an intimate portrait of the artists who created a music revolution through a wealth of rare and newly unearthed footage and audio recordings.

Featuring all-new, original interviews with Jackson Browne, Don Henley, Michelle Phillips, Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Roger McGuinn and more, the uniquely immersive and experiential docuseries takes us back in time to a place where a rustic canyon in the heart of Los Angeles became a musical petri dish.

 

Part One of Laurel Canyon premieres on EPIX this May 31, followed up by Part Two on June 7.
