OLMECA ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE & TITLE TRACK FROM HIS NEW ALBUM

“DEFINE” IS OUT NOW

“DEFINE” MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERED WITH COMPLEX

RECENT OFFICIAL SXSW PERFORMANCE FEATURED AT NPR ALT.LATINO AND NOISEY

Olmeca is proud to announce his latest single “DEFINE,” from his forthcoming album of the same name. The five-part genre bending song moves from ambient poetry, to boombap, to Afro-Caribbean rhythms and bomba, Huapango Huasteco to Trap and concluding with an infectious horn solo. On top of that, Olmeca cements the definition of each phase with lyrical disposition, making the listener want to put the song on repeat. “DEFINE” is out on now and distributed by ONErpm. You can view, post and share the official music video here (https://youtu.be/lfYpLR1J2E4).

Not only is “DEFINE” a whirlwind of sounds, but it is an introspective record that pushes the listener to define themselves. Olmeca explains the title, “DEFINE is not only a cognate word but, it ultimately depicts through music and lyrics who we are.  I’m not about to allow Trump era to depict who we are as a people.  Instead, I created a song that does it for us.” The song was recorded in Olmeca’s studio Alternative Future in Las Vegas and finished in Chicago with co-producer Alex Chavez of Dos Santos at JamDek Studio.

Olmeca is an artist who would rather immerse himself in a style and organically build it from the ground up, rather than just looping and borrowing from samples, which makes his music stand the test of time. His attention-to-detail and purposeful music are what make Olmeca’s catalog noteworthy and has us thirsting to hear more from his album. Olmeca is considered one of the most successful independent artists who can coexist between hip-hop in English and Spanish. He has toured throughout Canada, Latin America and Europe and is credited for being part of a new trend of Latin music in the United States, and according to Noisey, “is directly responsible for the rap in Spanglish thing.”

Olmeca has also had a presence in documentaries such as PBS Independent Lens and Two Americans, a film about immigration problems in Arizona. He has also written music for hit television shows such including Sons of Anarchy, CHANCE on HULU and the new series The Mayans on FX.
