CONTRIBUTE  Indigo campaign established for music clearance rights

Gary Fortin, Writer, Director & Producer of the feature film documentary ROAD TO AUSTIN has established an indigogo campaign to raise $75,000 for the publishing and manufacturing costs required to release the film on DVD & Blu-ray.  Included in the DVD/Blu-ray is the documentary, interviews with pundits and performers, and the full thirty-eight-song celebrity driven concert.

The ROAD TO AUSTIN chronicles how Austin, Texas became the Live Music Capital of the World, dating from 1835 to present day. The film highlights early 1800s Austin, the psychedelic movement, Armadillo World Headquarters, and numerous iconic musical inflection points that shaped the American musical culture of today. Vintage photos, rare posters, and never seen before video footage are presented with a soundtrack that truly inspires and reveals why Austin is such a magical epicenter of music. This feature length documentary builds to a climax as the storyline weaves its way towards an all-star live concert.

On May 19, 2007 an unprecedented event called the Road to Austin was unveiled to an audience of 20,000 people in Austin, Texas. Led by internationally acclaimed musical director, and GRAMMY award winning producer, Stephen Bruton. The lineup was developed to include multiple genres of music, including poetry and opera. The production attempted to blend and blur this artistic diversity in order to deliver many never-seen-before collaborations. The panoply of celebrity headliners (including Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, Delbert McClinton, Joe Ely, Ian McLagan, Eric Johnson) heightened the impact of the evenings apex and afforded Austins local artists an opportunity to have these legends accompany them during their performances. A seven-day rehearsal and staging period, occurring directly prior to the event was where all these critical components were perfected and new and old friendships magically collided to create a truly unforgettable evening. This event was designed to create and capture a heightened level of excitement towards understanding how and why Austin, Texas has become known as the live music capital of the world. The vision was to create a unique live musical showcase of 50+ local and world-renowned artists that are deeply rooted to the Austin music scene legacy and capture every moment of it in 5.1 surround sound and multi-camera footage.

This film also features interview segments with the performers regarding the event and the Musical Director of the concert (Stephen Bruton) who soon after the event lost his battle to cancer. This film is a 75-minute adaptation featuring a documentary and an 8-song except from the 3-hour concert. Kris Kristofferson dedicates this film and all its proceeds to the Stephen Bruton ‘Artist Wellness Program’ due to Stephen losing his battle to cancer in 2009. Stephen Bruton served as Kristofferson’s guitar player and closest friend for over forty years.  Stephen Bruton won a GRAMMY award in 2010 for his musical direction and songwriting on the film Crazy Heart starring Jeff Bridges.

Kris Kristofferson along with John Paul DeJoria dedicate this film to Stephen Bruton and both serve as the voices in establishing the Artist Wellness Program in his name. This initiative will provide Artists free of charge with advanced biomarker tests for the prevention and early detection of life threatening disease including, cancer, heart disease, and type-II diabetes.

The retail price for the DVD & Blu-ray will be $45.00 (3.5 hours of content) and will be a double-disk set.  100% of the proceeds from this film will be used to establish the program.

The Artist Wellness Program has been established to aid in the prevention and early detection of life threatening disease and to guide the participant towards a higher state of ongoing wellness and quality of life.  This program has 4 major components used to guide participants from their current state of health and well being towards a higher state of holistic wellness, balance and harmony:  advanced biomarker blood testing, comprehensive individualized results reporting, interactive mobile/desktop application and tracking software,  and associate supplements and resources.

This program will be offered free of charge to the Artist community, and the initial costs will be offset by proceeds collected from the sale of the “Road to Austin” documentary/concert video compilation and also from donation/sponsor support.
