Streamworks’ platform-agnostic encoding technology delivers 35 million stream views, keeping fans glued to their computer screens and mobile devices around the world
NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Streamworks, the global, end-to-end streaming company that delivers a superior video experience across any network to any device, today announced that it delivered a record-breaking 35 million online stream views of the 2011 Major League Gaming (MLG) Anaheim Pro Circuit, making the event the largest in MLG history. Encompass Digital Media, a premier provider of content aggregation and distribution services, provided a mobile satellite uplink for the live stream.
Audiences in 171 countries enjoyed uninterrupted, real-time access to high-quality video streams of the three-day MLG event held in Anaheim, Calif. on July 29-31.
“We were thrilled to partner with MLG once again to help make the Anaheim Pro Circuit competition the largest in MLG’s history,” said Ray Mia, CEO of Streamworks. “Average user time per stream for the event exceeded three hours – a testament to the level of engagement MLG was able to achieve by delivering an unmatched and uninterrupted viewing experience. In addition, Streamworks’ proprietary technology reduced MLG’s streaming bandwidth for the event by 25 percent, resulting in significant cost savings.”
To augment its robust Universal Delivery Network (uDN), Streamworks selected Encompass to deploy one of its state-of-the-art, multi-channel satellite uplink trucks to Anaheim, where it uplinked four signal paths in 720p HD to accommodate the ever growing expectations for enhanced picture quality.
Streamworks will continue to work with MLG to deliver live and on-demand coverage of all 2011 and 2012 Pro Circuit competitions. The next Pro Circuit will take place in Raleigh, N.C., on August 26-28 and streaming will be available on MLG’s website.
