[Brooklyn, NY, Tuesday, January 21, 2013] 2013 was a landmark year for The National, whose May release of their fifth studio album Trouble Will Find Me debuted at #3 on Billboard’s Top 200, followed by sold-out international tours, performances on The Colbert Report, All Things Considered, The Mindy Project, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live! The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan and more. The five-piece premiered their documentary film Mistaken For Strangers at the opening film at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival and was met with rave reviews. The band capped off the year with their first GRAMMY nomination for Best Alternative Album in early December. With 2014 underway The National shows no signs of slowing down with the 56th Annual GRAMMYS Awards on Jan. 26th, a theatrical release of their film, and new North American tour dates (listed below). In addition, The National will perform two songs on the Jan. 25th episode of CBS This Morning. Beginning on February 1st, National fans can submit covers of “I Need My Girl” for a Valentine’s Day contest.
I Need My Girl Covers Contest

CBS This Morning
The National will perform on CBS This Morning, Saturday, Jan. 25 on the CBS Television Network (check local listings). As part of the show’s ‘Saturday Sessions’ the band will be featured in a profile piece followed by performances of “I Need My Girl” and “Don’t Swallow the Cap.”
Mistaken For Strangers
Hailed by Michael Moore as “one of the best documentaries about a band that I’ve ever seen” and by Pitchfork as “the funniest, most meta music movie since SPINAL TAP,” MISTAKEN FOR STRANGERS is a truly hilarious and touching film about two brothers, Matt and Tom Berninger. Matt, the lead singer of the critically acclaimed rock band The National, finally finds himself flush with success. His younger brother Tom is a loveable slacker – a filmmaker and metal-head still living with his parents in Cincinnati. On the eve of The National’s biggest tour to date, Matt invites Tom to work for the band as a roadie, unaware of Tom’s plan to film the entire adventure. What starts as a rock documentary quickly becomes a crowd-pleasing journey about family, ambition, and the creative process.
The film will make its theatrical premiere on March 25, 2014 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The gala event wouldn’t be complete without a performance from The National, so they will be on hand to celebrate with a full concert. Tickets to the March 25 Shrine Auditorium show are available here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/
Mistaken for Strangers will be available in select theaters, on demand and on iTunes March 28.
