Review by Paul Salfen

This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters now is Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to the beloved ’80s film that finally hit theaters after a couple of years of delays due to COVID. Star and producer Tom Cruise supposedly would not allow it to go to streaming first and once you see the film, you’ll know why. This is everything that we want in a big screen experience. This time, Maverick returns and hasn’t moved up the rankings by choice and ends up training pilots for their most dangerous mission yet. Of course, it’s not without its obstacles from the higher-ups, his love interest in Jennifer Connelly, and Goose’s son, played perfectly by Miles Teller, who still holds Maverick responsible for his father’s death. There’s so much great action, incredible stunts, big laughs, and emotional moments- like the return of Val Kilmer as Iceman, that really send the viewer on a journey, which is exactly why we go to the movies. See it on the biggest screen possible – it may be the most fun you’ll have at the movies in longer than you can remember. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK and AMFM Magazine.
