Review By Paul Salfen

This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this week is The Black Phone, the new horror film starring Ethan Hawke that may very well be the scariest movie you’ve seen in years. Most horror films aren’t that scary but this one will get under your skin. It’s about a group of kids that are getting snatched by The Grabber, a masked creeper who holds them in his basement never to be seen again. It takes place in a time before cell phones and cameras on every corner and house when no one knows what goes on in the closed doors in their neighborhoods. One kid gets kidnapped and tries to escape but finds out it’s even more sinister and spooky than he expected when he starts getting calls in the basement from kids that didn’t make it. Director Scott Derrickson and writer Robert Cargill got us before with Sinister and now they’re back together to creep us out again – and it worked. Check it out and see if you don’t look behind you or keep a light on that night. That’s it for this week.
