    Andy Summers

Interview by Drew Pearson and Paul Salfen

Legendary guitar virtuoso and multiple Grammy®-winning artist, Andy Summers, has embarked on a 30+ city North American series of dates with The Cracked Lens + A Missing String theatre tour. The tour will see Summers visit intimate theatres incorporating his collective works into an insightful evening spanning his career where he will play guitar and improvise to several sequences of his photography shot worldwide, read excerpts from his book of short stories Fretted and Moaning, share insights on his music and photography, including his most recent photography book A Series of Glances, and perform selections from his extensive solo catalog.

“I’m thrilled to be going out with this show again,” says Summers – “let the light shine… after all we went through.”

Summers originally took this show out in 2019 culminating with a sold-out show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York but then as Covid hit, like most performers, he was forced to hold the tour until this summer.

The Cracked Lens + A Missing String theatre tour launched on the east coast Friday, July 21 in Beverly, MA, and includes stops in Ridgefield, Houston, Minneapolis, Albany, Pittsburgh, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and more. Full routing is below. For more information visit AndySummers.com.

Andy Summers is a celebrated guitarist, composer, photographer, documentarian, author, and member of one of the most influential and acclaimed acts in musical history, The Police. With a catalog that has sold more than 75 million records worldwide and spawned multiple chart toppers including “Message in a Bottle,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Can’t Stand Losing You,” “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic,” just to name a few, as well as four of their five studio albums making Rolling Stone‘s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, The Police continue to be one of the most celebrated acts in music history. Summers is a five-time Grammy® winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and has spent the past four decades performing live to audiences across the globe. Summers has released multiple solo projects in recent years as well as collaborations with John Etheridge, Robert Fripp, Fernanda Takai, Ben Verdery, and Victor Biglione. In 2007, The Police reunited for a 14-month global tour becoming the third highest-grossing tour at the time.

In recent years Summers has become a noted author including the 2006 release of his memoir,OneTrain Later (St. Martin’s Publishing Group), the inspiration for his 2012 documentary film,Can’t Stand Losing You: Surviving The Police, and his first work of fiction released in 2021,Fretted and Moaning: Short Stories (Rocket 88). Summers has found considerable success as a noted photographer with more than 60 worldwide exhibitions to date including Leica Gallery in Los Angeles, Paris/LA Independent Photo Show, and Kunst; Licht Photo Art Gallery in Shanghai; Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier, France; and the Boneffanten Museum in Maastricht, Netherlands.

Summers has published several books of photography including the stunning Desirer Walks the Streets (Nazraeli Press), I’ll Be Watching You (Taschen), and currently A Series of Glances published by teNeues in Germany. Summers has maintained a close relationship with Leica Camera who produced a beautiful Leica Signature camera for him in 2019.
