CAM Introduces Us To the World of “Deep Fake” With Madeline Brewer As Lola ( Interview) On Netflix Now

Alice, an ambitious cam girl, wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself.  The film screened at Fantastic Fest, and we had a chance to talk to the director Daniel Goldhaber, writer Isa Mazzei and star Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale).

The new net horror has been coined as “deep fake,”  an identity theft of the worse kind, when someone can steal your facial features and put them on another body. It is an artificial intelligence-based human image synthesis technique. It is used to combine and superimpose existing images and videos onto source images or videos.   It happens to celebrities, but can happen to anyone and “face-swap” results can be devastating.

Writer Isa Mazzei, a former cam girl herself, penned this before the A.I. software broke out last January, and the film has become a horror-movie harbinger.
