Dr. Tony Evans Launches The Unbound Podcast: Bringing Biblical Truth into Every Corner of Life

In a candid and heartfelt conversation with AMFM Magazine’s Paul Salfen, renowned pastor, author, and teacher Dr. Tony Evans opens up about his new venture, The Unbound Podcast. The show promises to bridge the gap between timeless scriptural truth and the real-world challenges people face today—whether in family, politics, entertainment, race, gender, nature, or grief.

Dr. Evans explains the heart behind the podcast: “Two extremes exist. One extreme is to discuss the realms of life and even that show its biblical centricity and how it relates to God’s truth, or to talk about God’s truth, but not show its relevance to the contemporary realities of life… Our kingdom view is going to try to demonstrate that God intersects in every area of life, and that there is no area of life that is to be removed from Him.”

True to its name, The Unbound is designed to be unscripted, natural, and full of joy. Dr. Evans emphasizes the importance of laughter alongside biblical depth: “We’re going to try to make it fun… A lot of laughter, a lot of joy, but a lot of biblical centricity at the same time. And totally unscripted.”

The guest lineup is impressively diverse and promises rich dialogue. Listeners can look forward to appearances by Grammy-winning artist Kirk Franklin, other Christian musicians, politicians, social activists, entertainers, and even scholars discussing the reliability of biblical manuscripts. One early focus will be on nature, showing “how God is so involved in nature that you don’t want to miss Him just because it’s a pretty day outside.”

Dr. Evans also teases discussions around his newest book, Unleashed: Releasing God’s Kingdom in and Through You, exploring how believers can live out kingdom principles in their everyday spheres of influence.

Reflecting on his own journey, Dr. Evans shares that his “Hail Mary moment” came in 1976 when he chose to start Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship from a small Bible study group instead of returning to Baltimore to launch a different ministry. That single decision, he says, changed everything and allowed him to see kingdom principles at work firsthand.

When asked for advice to those who want to share God’s truth in their own areas of expertise, Dr. Evans offers clear guidance: adopt a kingdom worldview rooted in Scripture as the absolute standard. “If you adopt that worldview and then seek to use the Bible as the standard… then you can now take whatever your area of expertise or desire or interest is… and you can become a biblical expert on the application to your area of interest or expertise.”

The conversation also touches on heavier topics. Dr. Evans and his current wife both experienced profound loss—his first wife to cancer, and her late husband to a heart attack on the way to the funeral. An early episode in the “Unbound” series will address grief and loss, offering emotional and spiritual insight for those walking through pain.

In a time of cultural chaos and division, Dr. Evans believes the answer lies in returning to God’s Word: “The further the true God is removed from the mindset and the environment, the more chaotic the environment… The best help I can give the environment is to bring God’s Word with me back into it, in order to turn chaos into calm.”

His hope for The Unbound Podcast is simple yet powerful: that listeners will be encouraged to open their Bibles and “see if these things be so,” just as the Bereans did in Acts 17.

About Dr. Tony Evans Dr. Tony Evans is the founding pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, founder and president of The Urban Alternative, and former chaplain of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys. He is the first African American to earn a doctorate of theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, the first to publish a full-Bible commentary and study Bible, and has been named one of the 12 Most Effective Preachers in the English-Speaking World by Baylor University. With over 150 published works, his daily radio broadcast The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans reaches millions worldwide. In 2017, he launched the Tony Evans Training Center, an online platform offering seminary-style courses to over 1,500 students globally.

The Unbound Podcast is now available, delivering meaningful, Scripture-centered conversations that bring clarity, hope, and fresh perspective to life’s toughest questions. Don’t miss it—subscribe today and let God’s truth speak into every part of your world.
