Synopsis: From Emmy Award-winning director Greg Whiteley and the team behind Cheer and Last Chance U, the fan-favorite series will return to continue giving viewers unfiltered access into this iconic team and franchise. Season 2 will follow the 2024-25 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad from start to finish — kicking off at auditions and training camp and continuing all the way through the NFL season.

In an engaging interview with AMFM Magazine, Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammell, the dynamic duo behind the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, shared insights into the highly anticipated second season of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Directed by Emmy Award-winning Greg Whiteley, known for Cheer and Last Chance U, the Netflix series continues to offer an unfiltered look into the world of this iconic cheerleading squad. Season 2 follows the 2024-25 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders from auditions and grueling training camps to the highs and lows of the NFL season, capturing the dedication, emotion, and sisterhood that define the team.

Paul Salfen, the interviewer, kicks off the conversation by noting the hard work the cheerleaders put into their craft, a sentiment echoed by fans who are often surprised by the intensity of the process. Kelli and Judy emphasized that this dedication is a point of pride. “People always say they have no idea how hard the ladies work to make the team and sustain the team’s activities,” they shared. They highlighted the cheerleaders’ athleticism and dance prowess, which shine through in the series, showcasing them as champion dancers and athletes.

The discussion turned to what viewers can expect in Season 2 without giving away spoilers. Kelli and Judy teased emotional moments, bold leadership decisions, and compelling backstories. “There’s a lot of tears, mine included,” one of them admitted, hinting at the emotional depth of the season. The show will feature the struggles and triumphs of the cheerleaders, including fan-favorite candidates who didn’t make the cut last year but are back to try again. The question of whether they’ll succeed adds an element of suspense. The series also captures the strong sense of sisterhood among the cheerleaders, with scenes of them cheering each other on through challenges.

When asked about advice for aspiring cheerleaders, Kelli and Judy stressed the importance of early dance training. “Get in dance classes, nail the dance technique at an early age,” they advised, noting that strong technical skills are crucial for success in the rigorous audition process. They also playfully mentioned a lighthearted requirement: knowing who Drew Pearson, the legendary Cowboys wide receiver and their co-host, is. “If they don’t know who Drew Pearson is, we won’t pick them,” they joked, referencing his iconic “Hail Mary” catch, a theme that resonates in the show’s narrative of clutch moments.

Speaking of “Hail Mary” moments, Kelli and Judy pointed to live performances as some of the season’s highlights. Notable performances include collaborations with country music stars Lainey Wilson and Kacey Musgraves, as well as the electrifying crowd reaction to the cheerleaders’ iconic “Thunderstruck” routine. “People were on their feet,” they recalled, describing the energy of seeing young fans in junior cheerleader outfits cheering along. These moments underscore the cultural impact of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and their ability to captivate audiences.

The interview also touches on the high standards that define the Cowboys organization. Kelli and Judy explained that the pursuit of excellence is a guiding principle in everything they do, from choreography to even the smallest details like stationery. “We ask ourselves, is this world-class?” they said, emphasizing that this mindset drives their decisions and keeps the team at the forefront of their field. This commitment to excellence extends to the cheerleaders, who are expected to perform at the highest level, both on and off the field.

As the interview wraps up, Kelli and Judy expressed excitement for the season ahead, both for the Netflix series and the Cowboys’ NFL campaign. They invited fans to tune in and experience the journey of the 2024-25 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, promising a season filled with emotion, determination, and unforgettable moments. “We’ll see you all at the stadium,” they said, leaving fans eager to watch America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on Netflix and cheer on this legendary squad.
