SXSW 2019: Jarryd James Showcases New Music At Empire Control Room

Australian Jarryd James self-effacing demeanor belies a singer songwriter powerhouse, a soulful artist who’s last song “Do You Remember” peaked at number 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart and garnered over  90 million streams worldwide and over 13 million YouTube views.  Its been a long four years since that time, but now fans world-wide  have welcomed his new single, “Slow Motion,” released last month.  The new song was co-written by Joel Little (Khalid, 6lack) who also co-wrote  “Do You Remember,” and other collaborators for upcoming as yet unreleased material include Malay (John Legend, Frank Ocean), Clams Casino (Asap Rocky, Vince Staples) and Cautious Clay (KYLE, Logic).

Jarryd, who hails from Brisbane, is labeled as alternative R&B, soul, and Indie pop, but we why don’t we just eschew labels and say hypnotic and ear-pleasing.  In this interview during SXSW 2019, he tells Paul Salfen a little about his new music, and talks about some musical influences.  We can’t wait to hear more.
