This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute brought to you by KYO online pharmacy. In theaters now is The Last Showgirl, the film that’s brought Pamela Anderson back into the spotlight and got her a Golden Globe nomination. The story follows an aging Las Vegas showgirl that has to come to grips with the harsh reality of ageism when she finds out her show she’s been doing since she was young is closing and she has to get back out there in the world. She also has to come to grips with her relationship with her estranged child, the father, and her friends, which include the always great Jamie Lee Curtis, Kiernan Shipka, and Brenda Song – who are about to scatter. Directed by Gia Coppola, Francis Ford’s daughter, the story is sometimes sad, sometimes sweet, sometimes funny – but always captivating when Anderson is on screen. While the film itself seems to be divisive, there’s nothing uncertain about her performance and ability to shine in a role that’s just perfect for her – and great for Dave Bautista as well. There’s a lot to think about here and much to applaud in this curtain raise and curtain call. That’s it for this week.
