Interview by Paul Salfen

This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this week is Thor: Love & Thunder, the massive new Marvel release starring Chris Hemsworth as the Norse god and just like the previous sequel by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok, this one is fast, fun, and gives another great reason to go to the movies. In this film, Thor is on a rare quest for peace that, of course, cannot last long when Gorr the God Butcher decides that all gods must die after a tragic incident with an uncaring one. He enlists the help of his friends and his ex to defeat him, but it’s not without its unbelievably crazy – and sometimes funny challenges. Hemsworth continues to show his charm and comedic chops, but it certainly helps to be around the likes of Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Waititi, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Sure, it’s loud, flashy, and silly, but it’s a lot of fun. Bale is fantastic as always and Portman really gives it the heart needed, and Crowe getting to be silly is a joy, but overall it’s a rare two hour romp that doesn’t take itself too seriously, gives us a burst of nostalgia, and quite a bit to ooh and ahh over as we stuff our faces with popcorn. We’re now back in the groove of going to the movies for big events, so let’s keep it that way. That’s it for this week.
