Review by Paul Salfen

This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this week is AIR, the new film about the creation of the Air Jordan shoe by Nike. We finally see Ben Affleck take the director’s chair again as well as one of the leads as Nike founder Phil Knight but the real star here is his old buddy Matt Damon, who stars as Sonny Vaccaro, the man who risked it all to make the deal with Michael Jordan happen. The all-star cast also includes Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker, a scene-stealing Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans, and the always incredible Viola Davis as Jordan’s mother. It’s fun, funny, touching, and most of all inspiring and probably will be a favorite among entrepreneurs that will cite this as a must-watch. Even though on the surface some may not be sold about seeing a film about the creation of a brand of shoe by a shoe company, it’s more than that. It’s a story about achieving greatness and we probably need more stories like this as counterprogramming to the current widespread negativity and darkness we’ve been seeing. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
