In the last twelve years of Harry Belafonte’s life, the legendary artist and activist kept asking whether he had done enough. Emmy-nominated filmmaker Susanne Rostock, who shared an office with him and previously directed Sing Your Song, returns with Following Harry, an intimate documentary that captures both the public frontlines of Ferguson and the Women’s March and the private rooms where Belafonte still wondered if his work had been sufficient. Award-winning activist Carmen Perez, longtime mentee and former President & CEO of The Gathering for Justice, joins Rostock in conversation with AMFM Magazine’s Paul Salfen. They talk about the knock on the door that changed everything, spit shines for dignity, dance-offs in the office, and the simple instruction that still hangs over the film: don’t hold history hostage. The film is now available on major VOD platforms.
