This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In IMAX now is EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, the colorful, electric, and vibrant concert film finally does the king justice in a way that only Baz Luhrmann could. Since Elvis never got to do his world tour, this will have to do: it’s a fun set of songs sprinkled in with a peek behind the scenes of the chaos of being Elvis mixed in with the silly, goofy, and absolutely charming guy he was in real life – along with a band and singers he loved serves as a fascinating timestamp for a once-in-a-lifetime performer that you really get to understand better than ever seeing him be himself. Of course you get all of the hits, totally remastered and in HD but there are also lesser known songs that show a different side of Elvis’s wide range of musical styles and abilities. Although it may mostly appeal to those that already love Elvis, it’s very likely that there might be a whole new generation of fans that discover Elvis because of this. It’s a great night out at the movies and worth seeing on the biggest screen with the loudest speakers – go get “All Shook Up” while you can. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM MAGAZINE, and RECRD.
