This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters now is Residsent Evil, the big screen reboot of the popular video game adaptation and it’s a blast. While Milla Jovovich isn’t in this one, director Zach Cregger rebooted it, starring Austin Abrams as Bryan, an organ delivery driver. He gets that dreaded “one last job” for the night, which is far away and of course the weather is bad. He takes the job, accidentally hits a woman on the road, goes to help her and guess what happens? Yes, she’s an undead creature and she terrorizes him through a remote area and then a hospital where he tries to go uninfected and runs across some of the gnarliest creatures in years. It’s a lot of fun, featuring creative creatures and kills, and it moves at a fast pace with constant dread in the air. All killer and no filler if you will with a dash of humor. It’s actually probably the most fun video game adaptation in recent memory and feels the most game-like of them. With the exception of a pretty abrupt ending, much like a video game, it’s a really fun ride and a perfect lead-in to spooky season. Check it out in a full theater for maximum effect.
