    Review by Paul Salfen

This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is The Creator, the big budget original sci-fi epic that is not a sequel, prequel, adaptation, or remake that’s fresh but also very familiar. With an unbelievably timely theme of out of control AI, this film – like a lot of great sci-fi says a lot while still manages to be highly entertaining and quite a feast for the eyes. Starring John David Washington, who really embraces the inner-Denzel he inherited from his father, really steps up here and shows that he is a star in his own right. Here he’s on a mission to destroy a secret weapon until he finds out it is in the form of a child. Directed by Gareth Edwards, who has given us Rogue One and Godzilla really echoes Star Wars here and many other sci-fi classics – maybe too many – but it does have something to offer even if it is a little lacking in the story department. It’s visually stunning and an achievement in special effects but will it become a franchise and take the box office by storm? That remains to be seen. But it does feel like we finally got that one last big summer movie in before the end of the year and there’s something to be said for a big screen-worthy experience. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.

By Christine Thompson for AMFM Magazine, March 6, 2026 In the shadowy laboratories of cinema, few creatures have endured as iconically as the Bride of Frankenstein—Elsa Lanchester's hissing, electrified vision from 1935, a character who barely spoke yet screamed volumes about creation, rejection, and female agency. Now, in Maggie Gyllenhaal's audacious sophomore feature The Bride!, that
