This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. Fresh from the Tribeca Film Festival is Crooks, the new film from Mickey Keating, who has mostly given us solid horror flicks and now goes into a fun, stylish retro meets crime noir world. The story follows a couple that robs a casino and then after a double cross, a hunt begins and hits a snag when a rogue waitress puts a further wrench in the story. Melora Walters shines as the said waitress and Angela Trimbur does a fine job leading this crazy story that’s full of twists and surprises – and crooks. It’s a fun quick watch and Keating even gives a little dash of horror-style violence and glorious black in white for fans of his previous work. It’s a mashup of styles but a good one and should go over well with fans of cult cinema. While no distribution has been announced, keep your eye out for this one. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM MAGAZINE, and RECRD.
