This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Hoppers, the new Pixar flick that’s a colorful joyous burst of life as you might expect from the studio. This story follows a spunky young girl that finds solace in the forest after some much-needed time with her grandmother there. When she grows up, she becomes the guardian of the serenity but then it gets threatened by construction and an ambitious mayor that chased the animals out so she’s got to get the animals to go back so the land can be protected. And, of course, that doesn’t happen without calamity and an introduction to a lot of cute but rambunctious critters. It’s got a nice message and comes out just in time to hammer that environmental issue in there just before Earth Day. This one, of course, makes for a great family outing and is definitely worth a trip to see it on the big screen where the Disney magic historically comes to life. The voice cast, which includes Jon Hamm, Dave Franco, and a host of SNL alum thankfully doesn’t rely on any celebrity here – just solid entertainment and plenty of heart. The only thing missing here are those sweet Pixar shorts that used to run in front of the movies, but the entree still works without the appetizer. That’s it for this week, Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM MAGAZINE, and RECRD.
