INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR Movie Minute Review

    Review by Paul Salfen

This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Insidious: The Red Door, the fifth and supposedly final film in the horror franchise. This one is directed by the film’s star, Patrick Wilson and mostly stars him and Ty Simpkins and pretty much leaves the other kids and the wife – now ex-wife, Rose Byrne, largely out of it. Also mostly missing is Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey, and Specs and Tucker. Of course they must go further into The Further and finally close the door. It’s slow in places and meanders along sprinkled with decent jump scares and only seems just passable until it gives an excellent ending, which was a surprise. For the completists, it’s a decent enough watch. For newcomers, you can follow along. For everyone else, watch the stronger entries, which is just about all of them. With all of the talent of James Wan, Oren Peli, Leigh Whannell, and Wilson, there was hope for just a little more. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
