When Derral Eves, the executive producer behind the global phenomenon The Chosen, first encountered the project, he knew it was something extraordinary. With two decades of experience in audience development and project distribution, Eves has been instrumental in turning The Chosen into a cultural touchstone, reaching millions worldwide. Now, he’s channeling that same passion into The Chosen Adventures, an animated series set to debut on Prime Video on October 17, 2025. In an exclusive interview, Eves shares his vision for this groundbreaking faith-based series, designed to captivate audiences of all ages with its unique storytelling and heartfelt mission.

    A Dream for Multi-Generational Storytelling

For Eves, The Chosen Adventures is more than just an animated series—it’s a chance to fill a long-standing gap in faith-based storytelling. “I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons, doing my chores just to catch them,” Eves recalls with a laugh. “But there’s always been a huge lack of faith-based storytelling through animation.” This series, set in the same universe as The Chosen, aims to change that by offering a fresh, engaging perspective on familiar biblical narratives.

At the heart of The Chosen Adventures is Abby, a curious young girl who, along with her friends, explores the first-century world through a child’s eyes. “What I love about it is you’re seeing the first century through the eyes of a child,” Eves explains. “How they perceive things, how they hear things, how they’re discovering things.” This unique lens allows the series to present timeless stories in a way that feels new and relatable, capturing the wonder and questions of youth while delivering meaningful messages for all ages.

    Crafting a Multi-Generational Experience

One of the standout features of The Chosen Adventures is its ability to resonate with both children and adults. Eves credits head writer Ryan Swanson and the writing team for striking this delicate balance. “They made it fun. It’s witty,” he says. “There’s things for adults that they’ll find funny, and the kids will have no clue what that means.” This multi-generational appeal ensures that families can gather together to enjoy the series, sparking conversations and shared moments that go beyond the screen.

Eves has seen this impact firsthand during prescreenings with families. “I like to watch the families because most people think animation’s just for kids, and that’s not necessarily true,” he notes. “Our writers have done a great job creating a multi-generational experience.” With 14 episodes in the first season, the series promises a blend of humor, heart, and profound moments that will leave viewers of all ages inspired.

    A Fresh Perspective Through Animation

What sets The Chosen Adventures apart from its live-action counterpart is its innovative use of animation to explore the world of The Chosen. Eves highlights the unique perspective offered by the inclusion of animals, which provide a playful yet insightful commentary on the events unfolding around them. “We get to look through another lens because we’re able to do this through animation,” he says. “The animals can’t talk to the characters, but you’re able to get some really interesting insight or commentary.”

This creative approach allows the series to tackle familiar stories in a way that feels fresh and engaging. Whether it’s Abby and her friends processing Jesus’ teachings or the animals offering their own perspective, The Chosen Adventuresinvites viewers to rediscover these narratives with a sense of wonder and curiosity.

A Mission to Inspire and Unite

For Eves, The Chosen Adventures is deeply personal. His faith has been a guiding force in his career, particularly in his work on The Chosen and its animated spinoff. “When I discovered who Jesus really was and what He has done for me, it set the foundation,” he shares. This foundation drives his commitment to creating high-quality, impactful content that resonates with audiences seeking authenticity and truth.

Eves’ biggest hope for the series is that it will bring people together. In a world of “hustle and bustle” and isolated communication, he envisions The Chosen Adventures as a catalyst for family and community gatherings. “I want families to gather, friends to gather, and watch together,” he says. “I want it to be intentional—‘Hey, it’s The Chosen Adventuresnight. We’re going to have some food and fun.’”

    Advice for Aspiring Storytellers

As someone who has worked with major creators like MrBeast and built a career in video production, Eves has plenty of wisdom to share with young people eager to tell their own stories. His advice is simple yet profound: “We all belong to a Creator, and we’re born in His image. We should create, whether it’s a craft or something where you can express yourself.” He encourages the younger generation to not only create but also share their work, embracing the desire to connect with others through storytelling.

Eves’ own journey is a testament to the power of intentionality and impact. At Five and Two Studios, the team behind The Chosen Adventures, the focus is on quality over quantity. “We’re not going to go out and make a whole bunch of series all at once just because we’re popular now,” Eves explains. “We want to do it with high quality.” This commitment to excellence is evident in the meticulous writing and stunning animation that bring The Chosen Adventures to life.

What’s Next for The Chosen Universe

As The Chosen Adventures prepares to launch, fans of The Chosen have plenty more to look forward to. Eves teases the upcoming release of The Chosen Season 6, with Season 7 already in the works, promising “very important moments” that will resonate deeply with audiences. Whether through streaming, DVD, or theatrical releases, the The Chosen universe continues to expand, offering new ways for viewers to engage with its powerful stories.

For Eves, the mission remains clear: to reach as many people as possible with messages of hope, faith, and authenticity. “There’s a lot of individuals that are seeking truth, looking for authenticity,” he says. “They’re finding that voice through The Chosen, and this is going to be an extension of that as well.”

    A New Chapter Begins

As The Chosen Adventures premieres on Prime Video, Derral Eves invites families, friends, and communities to come together and experience these stories in a new light. With its heartfelt storytelling, vibrant animation, and multi-generational appeal, the series is poised to become a beloved addition to the The Chosen universe. For Eves, it’s all about creating moments of connection and inspiration—moments that remind us of the power of faith, curiosity, and shared experiences.

Mark your calendars for October 17, 2025, and gather your loved ones for The Chosen Adventures on Prime Video. It’s more than just a show—it’s an invitation to see the world through a child’s eyes, to laugh together, and to rediscover the timeless truths that unite us all.
