This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters now is The Furious, the wildly intense new action flick that pairs Xie Miao and Joe Taslim for a noble cause – one to save his daughter and the other to avenge his wife in a brutal fight against child abducters that results in piles of bodies in new and creative ways that hasn’t been done at this level since The Raid films. Miao took over the big role of Ip Man and Taslim took over the role as Sub-Zero in the new Mortal Kombat movies and now they really get to shine in something original that, while very dark, is exciting to see given the revenge on these types of criminals. Directed by Kenji Taganaki, the film moves at, well, a furious pace and brings the over-the-top fight scenes to life. With choreography that will stun and stunts that will make you wince and even launch uncomfortably, it does beg the question, would you go so far if you were in this situation as a dad? Absolutely, so consider this a nontraditional Father’s Day movie – and one you should definitely see on the big screen. That’s it for this week.
