This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute brought to you by KYO online pharmacy. On Netflix this weekend is Mary, the story of the mother of Jesus, which was quite an interesting task to take on because not much is known about her. While a very important figure in The Bible, blanks had to be filled in here with fiction and conflicting pieces were taken from a couple of books of The Bible but the rest is amped up by action director DJ Caruso. Israeli actress and model Noa Cohen plays the title character with grace and beauty as she has to save her marriage with Joseph when she shows up pregnant without his help and fearing the wrath of King Herod – played here by Sir Anthony Hopkins. Here the couple spends some good time on the run to save baby Jesus and fulfil their destiny. While done respectfully, purists will take issue with the fight scenes and the appearance of the devil and a new angel scene, but it’s still not a typical Hollywood film, although it does have some not-so-surprising coming of age and faith based moments. It won’t be for everyone but it is a free movie on Netflix that’s well-shot and perfect for its target audience this season, who surely have ran through the Hallmark films by now. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
