Beverly Hills Film Festival Winning Short SCARLET: Filmmaker Maria Bobeva On Utilizing Resources in Bulgaria and The U.S.

We talks to Director Maria Bobeva about short film SCARLET, which was awarded Jury Best Short at the Beverly Hills Film Festival 2025.  In this interview, Maria explains the difference between filmmaking in Bulgaria, and describes her journey to complete the short. SCARLET was also selected for SEEfest (South East European Film Festival) Los Angeles and In the Palace IFF (upcoming). 

Synopsis: In response to a call to a suburb of Sofia, the young social worker Stella falls into the imaginary world of nine-year-old Scarlet and the dark reality of her alcoholic mother, Anastasia.
