This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is other returning animated favorite with Despicable Me 4. You’re probably thinking where could this possibly go that the other three and two Minions movies haven’t gone but somehow this one manages to still be a little fresh and fun. It’s not trying to reinvent the wheel but would never claim to either. This time we see Steve Carell return as the voice of Gru and now he has to move the family into a safe house when an old nemesis voiced by Will Ferrell is coming after him – and of course, things don’t go as planned. With a stellar nostalgic soundtrack, familiar Minions shenanigans, an original writer and director at the helm and lots of laughs, this is a relief that there’s something new for the whole family as summer turns up the heat. It’s lighthearted, silly, and exactly what you’d expect but that’s not a bad thing during a time of unrest and an election year. This is a nice quick break and a return we didn’t know we needed. Let’s face it: if you’ve got kids or you’re already a fan, you know you’re already going and if not, probably not. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
