With testimonials that include the Dalai Lama and Deepak Chopra, neuroscientist Dr. James R. Doty champions mental health, and in this interview discusses his new book as well as the mental health app he is working on that “utilizes a proprietary and conversation AI base.”

Jim Doty is a Stanford neurosurgeon, neuroscientist, compassion researcher, inventor, entrepreneur, NY Times bestselling author and philanthropist.

He is the author of a self-help book called Into the Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon’s Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart.

His book Mind Magic: The Neuroscience of Manifestation and How It Changes Everything was released earlier this year.

Dr. Doty has been on the faculty of the Stanford University School of Medicine since 1997 in the Neurosurgery Department as a professor and more recently as an adjunct professor. He is also the founder and director of the Stanford Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) of which His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the founding benefactor. Most recently, his academic focus is on meditation, compassion, and self-compassion for which he has lectured throughout the world.
