Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Final Destination: Bloodlines, the reboot of the popular gruesome franchise and it hasn’t lost its teeth at all – it’s as bloody as ever. While it was always impressive how many ways the filmmakers came up with ways to do away with every character, nothing has changed in that regard – it’s still that mean-spirited and indiscriminate death, the oldest and most powerful villain just taking out anyone and everyone despite their age, race, gender, or how much you like the character. This installment finds a family that’s in the bloodline of someone that has cheated death and of course after death picks off every single other person saved from a tragedy, now it goes down the bloodline in order. While it doesn’t break any new ground, it’s a solid chapter in the franchise and without the help of big stars or famous filmmakers, the film works on sticking to the brand alone and there’s something to be said for that. That said, it should be noted that there is one final cinematic appearance from a frail Tony Todd who was dying at the time and left behind choice words in a strangely fitting scene that ties back to the first film. Enjoy every moment here, indeed. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
