Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is How To Train Your Dragon, the live action shot for shot remake of the beloved 2010 animated film from the original writer-director and it is truly proof that a great story can be told in many different ways and still have the same result. It’s an instant classic all over again. It’s sweet, funny, incredibly engaging, and one that kids and parents can enjoy equally, which is is sometimes a tough balance. The story of course follows the battle between vikings and dragons on the Isle of Berk and when a young man named Hiccup discovers that he’s not cut out for killing dragons when he befriends an adorable one names Toothless, it upsets his father (played perfectly by Gerard Butler) and he must prove that dragons in general are not the enemies of the vikings. Dean DeBlois gives everyone all of the feels in this action packed adventure that’s ripe for a sequel and new life in the franchise and we’re all better for it. This may be the best time to bring your family to the movies this summer. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
